A Dummies Guide to Supplements

As chiropractors, we like take a holistic approach to our patients’ health and road to recovery. As well as our chiropractic treatments, we will often recommend exercises and stretches that you can do at home, along advising ways to prevent you from re-injuring your spine. Supplements can also be a great way to speed recovery, help reduce pain and help reduce inflammation. In our practice one of the practitioner only supplements we stock is Metagenics. We recommend that any supplement be taken on the advise of a health care professional to make sure it is what your body needs. Chiropractor, Daniel Ryken, has made a list of some of the most common supplements that we recommend in the practice:

Inflavonoid Intensive Care – Suffering from Acute Pain and Joint Inflammation? As chiropractors, we see a lot of this. Inflavonoid Intensive Care contains an exclusive formulation of BCM-95 Tumeric extract along with anti-inflammatory herbs willow bark, boswellia and ginger. These herbs have been traditionally used in Western, Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine, and may provide temporary relief of mid arthritic pain and to reduce joint inflammation. We often recommend Inflavonoid for patients suffering with acute pain.

PainX – PainX contains a Magnesium Combination which may be used to maintain healthy muscle and nerve function and healthy neurotransmitter levels in heathy people. It also contains Calfornia Poppy, which has been used in traditional Western herbal medicine to relieve mild nerve pain and support a restful night’s sleep. As chiropractors on the Northern Beaches, we frequently have patients come to us for relief of headaches and migraines. Studies have shown that magnesium helps reduce the frequency of migraines when taken for 3 months. Pain X helps provide temporary relief from pain associated with mild fibromyalgia, and also helps maintain energy production. We often recommend Pain X to patients suffering with chronic pain.

Myoplex – As chiropractors, we work very closely with the neuromuscular system in the body. Myoplex contains magnesium to support muscle contraction, nerve conduction and the regulation of vascular tone. It has been specially formulated to assist in the function of the neuromuscular system. Myoplex is also useful for the relief of nervous tension, stress and mild anxiety. We often recommend Myoplex for patients suffering with muscle spasm.
