How Can Chiropractic Help?
Find out more about how Chiropractic can help your neck and arm pain by calling (02) 9938 5456 to arrange an initial assessment today.
Chiropractic care primarily involves improving the function of the muscles and joints through adjustments and mobilisation of the spine and extremity joints. X-rays are sometimes used to pinpoint a problem, or to confirm an initial diagnosis.
- Gentle manipulation and mobilisation can help to restore the normal movement of joints. This helps in preventing joint fixations that can slow down the body’s own healing process and prevent normal movement from being restored.
- Massage therapy will help, not only to restore normal length and elasticity to affected muscles, tendons and ligaments, but also to help break down any scar tissue in the soft tissues surrounding the affected joint or joints.
Our Chiropractor will be able to give you advice for gentle stretching and rehabilitation exercises that will help you to speed your own recovery and to prevent a recurrence.
Chiropractic Can Help You
If you are suffering from shoulder and arm pain, Chiropractic care can help with all of the following common causes and many more as well!
Referred Pain
If you are experiencing neck pain and stiffness, muscle weakness and/or numbness in your shoulders or arms, this could be caused by brachial plexus nerve irritation. This problem can also cause headaches, dizziness and pain in the facial muscles.
Frozen Shoulder
Frozen Shoulder, (adhesive capsulitis) is a condition that does not usually happen overnight, but creeps up on us gradually with an initial phase of pain and gradual loss of movement in the shoulder that can last for weeks or even months. It is an inflammatory condition affecting the joint capsule of the shoulder and which makes the normal range of movement of the shoulder bones, impossible and very painful.
Rotator Cuff Injuries
Complete or partial rotator cuff tears are very painful and cause weakness in the injured shoulder. In partial tears, the arm can still be moved normally (although painful), but the worse the tear is, the less movement is possible. A tell-tale sign of a complete rupture of the rotator cuff tendons is that in a standing position, the patient cannot raise their arm sideways if it is resting by their side. Rotator cuff injuries can also make sleeping difficult as pain caused by rolling onto the affected side is enough to wake the patient.
